Country blue residence got published on Designboom

Indian studio Architecture RIFF leads the retrofit extension project for The Country Blue, a 30-year-old
home
in Maruthur South, Nagapattinam, India. This renovation adds a new kitchen, reconfigures the existing one into a dining area on the ground floor, and includes a bedroom with an en suite bathroom on the first floor. To address level differences between the old flooring and the new kitchen, the architects add an indoor garden court to let sunlight in and improve ventilation while serving as a visual break between spaces. The project replaced the compound wall, added terracing, and incorporated local shades of blue, inspired by existing elements found on the site, like an old door and a painted wooden chair.

In the relentless chaos of urban sprawl, houses grounded in native architecture like this home in
Bengaluru
do more than provide solace—they offer a sanctuary where the rhythm of tradition is congruent with the pace of modern life. When the clients approached Priyadarshini Veerendra and Sharanya Sekar—Tarsi's founders and principal architects—they envisioned a home that echoed native sensibilities. They wanted a culturally rooted abode, emphasizing open spaces while exuding timelessness. Staying true to their philosophy that design finds its essence in the balance between heritage and innovation, the architects delivered a sanctuary that honours its roots while embracing modern living.

Aniketana House got published on Archdaily

Aniketana is placed in a calm residential area, a north-facing plot with a frontage of 40 feet and 60 feet depth. The existing tree at the entrance is retained as it brings a touch of nature to the space while also serving as a buffer and screen, creating a sense of separation and privacy for the site.  To create a sense of hierarchy and prioritize privacy, the house is divided into four main levels and stacked vertically: the entry-level, the family space, the private areas, and the master suite.  We enter the ground floor through a landscaped area leading us to the formal living and home theatre. The pet's living and services are neatly tucked away in the back.
